On January 6, 2021, an Israeli military judge in the West Bank will likely issue his decision against Issa Amr, a prominent Palestinian opponent against the Israeli occupation, facing political charges for his political activities against the Israeli military occupation and illegal settlements.

Amr is one of the organizers of the Youth Group Against Settlement in Hebron, which coordinates peaceful activity against illegal Israeli settlements in Hebron and the oppressive restrictions imposed on Palestinians by Israeli experts in the city.

Amr originally appeared before an Israeli military court in 2016 on 18 charges, ranging from "insulting an officer" to "holding a demonstration without obtaining a permit."
Over the past decade, Amnesty International has reported examples of assaults on Palestinian public freedoms and activists in Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories, and the amnesty fears Amr will be sentenced to long prison terms by the Ofer Military Court.

Salih Hegazy, Deputy Director for the Middle East and North Africa at Amnesty International, said: “Israeli specialists must finish their mission of mistreating Palestinian citizen Issa Amr, who is a notable voice against the Israeli separation system and the deliberate violation of public freedoms against Palestinians in Palestine. Occupied Palestinian territory, especially in Hebron. "
Hebron is one of two Palestinian urban areas in the Palestinian territories concerned with illegal Israeli settlements inside them. The Israelis have long imposed a set of massive and deeply repressive restrictions on development on the Palestinians of Hebron.
