Today, the memory of the martyrdom Basil Al-Araj, after an armed clash with the Israeli special units, inside a house where he was holed up, in the city of Ramallah, on March 6, 2017, after a long pursuit.

Birth and upbringing


Al-Araj (31 years old) was born in the village of Al-Walaja, Bethlehem district, in 1986, and obtained a pharmacy degree and worked in its field. He also emerged as a writer, researcher and blogger, and actively researched the Palestinian history and the history of the Palestinian revolution in all its stages.

Popular Resistance and Culture


Al-Araj was known for his broad culture that he devoted to resisting the occupation in all forms, with blogs and articles in support of the Palestinian resistance against the occupation, and he was one of the advocates of boycotting the occupier at home and abroad, and he was also active in the popular resistance, as he advanced the ranks of the popular rallies rejecting the settlement, which has eaten his village from a young age.
During the past three years, he had embarked on a project "documenting the stations of the Palestinian revolution" from the revolution of 1936 to the Al-Aqsa Intifada in 2000, and for this purpose he launched field trips aimed at visiting the areas where the suicide attacks and battles took place, such as the site of Operation Death Alley that was carried out by three The "Islamic Jihad Movement" in Hebron in 2002, the battle of Al-Walaja in Bethlehem, the model of the Jenin countryside in the feasibility of resistance, and others.

Martyrdom Day


Al-Araj was killed on March 6, 2017, when a special force stormed a house where he was fortified in the city of Al-Bireh, near Ramallah, in the occupied West Bank.

Al-Araj clashed with the occupation forces for two hours, and after his ammunition ran out, the occupation forces stormed the house in which he was holed up, killed him and kidnapped his body.

Social media circulated a will that the martyr left inside the house in which he was fortified, in which he said: “Greet Arabism, the homeland and liberation, but after you read this, this means that I have died, and the soul has ascended to its Creator, and I pray to God to meet him with a sound heart that is coming" .
