Today, Tuesday, corresponds to the third anniversary of the martyrdom of photojournalist Yasser Murtaja, shot by the Israeli occupation forces, while covering the return marches and breaking the siege in the eastern Gaza Strip.

The late colleague (30 years) was shot by an Israeli sniper, despite his distance from the security fence more than 300 meters, and he wore a protective shield written on it "press" .

At the time, eyewitnesses reported that the Israeli occupation forces fired live bullets directly at Murtaja while filming demonstrators near the separation fence east of Khan Yunis, he was hit in the stomach area.
And the Hebrew newspaper "Haaretz" confirmed, at the time, that the occupation army targeted the martyr Yasser Murtaja with premeditation.

The newspaper said that the targeting of Murtaja took place despite the knowledge of the occupation army, present on the border with Gaza, that he is a journalist and carries the press badge.

Yasser, who was known for his kindness, calm smile and light shadow among his co-workers, was married with a child.

He worked as a filmmaker and participated in making a number of documentaries that were broadcast on Arab and foreign media about the situation in the Gaza Strip.

Among the most prominent of the late’s films is the story of the little girl "Beisan" that he saved during the aggression on Gaza in the summer of 2014, and a picture of him spread with her while they were very happy.

Yasser Murtaja, one of the founders of "Ain Media" agency, and his dream was to photograph Gaza from the air via plane, as he never left the Gaza Strip.
He wrote on his Facebook page: “I hope that the day will come when I photograph Gaza City while I am in the plane and not on the ground! .. My name is Yasser Murtaja - I am 30 years old - I live in Gaza City, and I have never traveled in my life.”

Thousands of citizens participated in the funeral of the martyr Murtaja, while large crowds of citizens and journalists performed funeral prayers on his body.
